Based out of our Vancouver Retail Group Administrative office and reporting to the Vice President of Vancouver Retail, the Marketing Manager will facilitate the sales of Mercedes-Benz, smart and Sprinter vehicles by promoting the company to the Greater Vancouver market through advertising and event promotion in conjunction with an external advertising agency.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and evaluate tactical marketing strategy, based on knowledge of the VRG objectives, market characteristics, and cost and markup factors
- Evaluate the financial aspects of product development, such as budgets, expenditures, research and development appropriations, and return-on-investment
- Formulate, direct and coordinate marketing activities and policies to promote products and services, working with an external advertising agency and other various vendors
- Coordinate advertising activities for all Passenger cars and Commercial vans, and Fixed Operations
- Direct the hiring, training, and performance evaluations of marketing staff and oversee their daily activities
- Negotiate contracts with vendors and distributors in conjunction with the National Procurement Department
- Use sales forecasting and strategic planning to ensure the sale and profitability of products, lines, or services, analyzing business developments and monitoring market trends
- Coordinate and participate in promotional activities and trade shows, working with developers, advertisers, and production managers to market products and services
- Advise business and other groups on local and national factors affecting the buying and selling of products and services
- Initiate market research studies and analyze their findings
- Consult with buying personnel to gain advice regarding the types of products or services expected to be in demand
- Conduct economic and commercial surveys to identify potential markets for products and services
- Manage all CRM activities, update regional website as needed, work with the Business Development Centre on departmental campaigns
Requirements:
- University degree in business administration and marketing
- 7-10+ years of experience in marketing, preferably with an automotive retailer
- 3-5 years of experience in a managerial/supervisory role in a marketing department
- Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills
- Strong knowledge of sales and marketing principles and processes
- Knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods
- Excellent knowledge on social media techniques
- Critical thinking, strong decision making, ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects
- Excellent analytical, research and presentation skills
- Advanced computer skills (MAC, Powerpoint, Word, Excel)
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently and make decisions
- Experience in tracking and controlling budgets
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license for local travel with a clean driver’s abstract
- Ability to communicate (verbal and written) in Cantonese/Mandarin would be an asset
