Marketing and Communications Specialist full-time
Do you have what it takes to be a Marketing and Communication Specialist in support of research, innovation and new venture at NAIT? Are you knowledgeable about science and innovative technologies and passionate about writing and telling stories that will change how people think? NAIT is currently seeking the right person to work closely with the Polytechnic’s AVP of Research and Innovation, deans, research chairs, marketing and communications staff and other key stakeholders to strategize, plan and implement initiatives and activities that support NAIT’s important position in conducting research and innovation required by industry. The successful candidate is able to quickly understand complex information and, from this, create compelling content for various audiences. They must have a solid marketing and communications background, with experience in writing in a number of styles – from print to web to social. . It is important that the candidate understand how communications is able to nurture a culture of inquiry, and that their work exemplifies best practice. The individual will be required for strategic advice and counsel on communication practices, strategic planning and execution. It is imperative that the individual be adept at working with different teams, and comfortable in high level meetings. While this intermediate-level position reports to the Provost’s Senior Communications Lead in the Department of Marketing and Communications, guidance with respect to priority setting will happen in conjunction with the AVP of Research and Innovation and his staff.
Responsibilities:
Counsel internal stakeholders on marketing and communications
Analyze, strategize and implement communications and marketing in support of short to long term plans
Stay abreast of new trends and directions in communications and content marketing, ensuring meaningful engagement of target audiences through appropriate channels
Remain up to date with trends, announcements and the evolving industry needs and business solutions
Identify and manage key performance metrics for marketing and communications in support of research and innovation initiatives

Work collaboratively with clients at all levels to meet NAIT’s vision, promises, strategic objectives and outcomes

Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with all levels of an organization
Superior writing and editing skills
Keen audience insights and knowledge related to changed technologies and innovations, needs and expectations
Project management skills and a sound understanding of market research
Demonstrated success in effectively managing multiple projects at the same time and delivering results under tight deadlines while remaining flexible to shift priorities when needed.
Self-starter with the ability to work individually and in a team environment

Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in Science or Engineering, preferably an advanced degree

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in corporate communications
Remuneration: Salary commensurate with education and experience
