Information Services Branch – Toronto, ON
Join the busy, committed team of IT professionals in the Information Services Branch of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The Information Services Branch offers multi-faceted services that touch Assembly information in a variety of ways. These services work together to find, capture, organize, preserve and present the work of the Assembly, to tell the story of Ontario’s Parliament.
Reporting to the Manager of Systems Development, you will be responsible for the design and development of user interfaces and websites using best practices, standards and methodologies. As a Web Designer, you will use expertise in user-centred design, visual design and information design to create interface specifications, prototypes, mock-ups, and sample code. Considering the needs of the Assembly, you will customize third-party systems and participate in the development of tailored solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Complementing your university degree or equivalent, you have advanced knowledge of the development of web-based information technology systems, including an excellent understanding of information, user-interface, and visual design. As a Web Designer, you also bring the following strengths:
- Your technical experience includes CSS, HTML/HTML 5, JavaScript/JQuery, together with knowledge of web content management systems like SharePoint, Sitefinity, TerminalFour, Drupal, Joomla and WordPress.
- Your ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical clients and colleagues at all levels is combined with strong consulting skills and superior problem-solving, judgement and analytical skills.
- You are comfortable working in an environment that regularly functions with aggressive timelines and are able to manage several key priorities simultaneously.
- Familiarity with project management, system development lifecycles and Agile methodologies would be an asset.
The salary range for this position is $60,548 to $77,184 per annum.
The Office of the Assembly is the administrative arm of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario (www.ontla.on.ca). Our mandate is to provide non-partisan support services to all Members of Provincial Parliament.
