Who We Are Inside Education™ is a leading nonprofit charitable education society. We work to help Albertans understand the current science, technology and issues related to the environment, and the development of our natural resources. We provide education programs and services to teachers and students in the K-12 school system, in topics related to forests, energy and water.
Opportunity
Are you a recent digital arts graduate looking to gain experience in your field? We are seeking a one-year, full-time Graphic/Web Designer to work in a team environment and manage our visual identity, production and design needs. Example assignments are layout and design or modification of: marketing materials, education workbooks, reports, electronic newsletters, presentations, signs and displays. You will help keep our suite of websites visually fresh and technically happy. In 2012, we are hosting a provincial student-teacher summit on water issues -- you will be pivotal in creating the website and all related design materials. This position is a fantastic opportunity to develop a body of work for your portfolio!
Qualifications
Creativity is assumed! We work in a Mac OS/X environment using the Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver. You should have a well-rounded multi-media background and consider yourself "web savvy" with familiarity in Drupal or Joomla. It helps to have a working knowledge of HTML, XML, Javascript and/or Actionscript. You take a good photograph, and have an eye for detail and accuracy in print. A desire to work with illustration and animation would be an asset. Finally, you recognize that communications work is collaborative, and you demonstrate the personal qualities of a good friend, colleague and partner.
