Web Content Team Leader full-time

Free The Children seeks a driven and experienced Web Content Team Leader with at least one to two years of web project management and web content development experience. The candidate should have exceptional project management skills to manage, maintain and improve organizational websites, user experiences and online content. The content manager will work closely with technical, business development, and marketing members of our organization, so strong communication skills are needed. He/she will have experience with writing and designing for web and have a keen eye for user experience.

The position is based out of Free The Children’s International office in Toronto (233 Carlton Street). A minimum two-year commitment is expected. Salary is $40,000 - $45,000. There is a three (3) month probationary period, upon reaching the three (3) month period, all staff members are offered a health plan including dental and Employee Assistant Program.

Responsibilities:
- People Management
o Along with the Technical Lead, co-manage a team of 6-8 web developers.
o Effectively and clearly delegate work to the web team and oversee work flow, process and progress.
o Accomplish work requirements by orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, and coaching employees; following production, productivity, quality and customer service standards.
- Quality control on websites
o Stay current with technology and best practices in order to identify if internal web solutions are timely, on-trend and industry-accepted.
o Ensure quality of all components of the websites including written content, design, information architecture and more.
o Own the quality of the websites (www.freethechildren.com, www.weday.com and www.metowe.com) over the long-term, including developing growth and continuous improvement strategies for website usability, performance and design.
o Perform routine maintenance audits of website content, online forms, images, layout, and more through the use of a content management system.
o Responsible for ensuring all organizational websites are SEO-optimized.
o Oversee and coordinate all web updates, errors and projects- from small typos to large website redesigns.
- Project management of all web projects
o Involved in all stages of web projects—from conceptual development to execution.
o Responsible for wireframing, scoping and executing on all web projects.
o Provide direction, leadership, and coordination on web projects.
o Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
o Delegate to and liaise with writing team, design team on web content.
o Coordinate creative feedback and approvals from various stakeholders.
o Maintain prompt and thorough email correspondence with internal and external project stakeholders, as well as project documentation (timelines, project plan, etc.).
- Digital marketing
o Coordinate, plan and oversee the execution of digital marketing campaigns (email blasts, newsletters, etc.).
o Gather, interpret and report on analytics and outcomes of email blast campaigns.
- Analytics and reporting
o Regularly gather, interpret and reports on web analytics.
o Spot trends in digital marketing and putting forward recommendations based on them.
Reporting and Relationships:
- Reporitng to the Associate Directors, Creative and Communication.
- A member of the 10-person Creative and Communications Management team.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Must have experience managing web projects, ideally in an agency environment.
- Degree in web management, communications, marketing, project management or relevant field.
- Web savvy with strong familiarity with usability principles, as well as web standards and information architecture.
- Exposure to mobile applications and social media platforms.
- Is able to command authority naturally.
- Must be highly organized and able to develop and maintain organizational systems and processes.
- Displays good judgment, with an ability to identify risks and manage expectations.
- Possesses strong writing and communication skills, with an eye for good content (both written and design). Experience with writing and designing for websites is a must.
- Detail-oriented and highly meticulous.
- Independent and self-driven.
- Experience with people management is a strong asset.
