Position Purpose

We are looking for a talented UI Designer to create amazing user experiences.  The ideal candidate should have an eye for clean, functional and artful design, possess superior UI skills and be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts, and transform them into beautiful, intuitive, and functional user interfaces. This resource will also play a key role in the implementation of RBC Design Standards as applicable to the applied technology platform, as well as ensuring RBC‘s accessibilities are being followed.

Responsibilities

-Collaborate with product business units and developers to define and implement innovative digital solutions (web and mobile)

-Execute all visual and interactive design stages from concept to final developer hand-off

-Conceptualize original ideas that leverage simplicity and user friendliness to counter complex design roadblocks

-Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas

-Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders

-Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback

-Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards

Requirements

-A love of design

-Minimum five years of experience within the digital design industry

-Minimum three years of experience in a client-facing role managing creative initiatives

-Demonstrable UI design skills with a strong portfolio

-Proficient in responsive design frameworks

-Digital Media degree/certificate or training with proven related work experience

-Minimum 2 to 4 years designing web solutions with emphasis on all stages of projects including design, development and documentation

-5+ years experience working with HTML 5

-Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

-Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps

-Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, OmniGraffle, or other visual design and wire-framing tools

-Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping

-Up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies

-Demonstrated experience utilizing graphic development tools (e.g. Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator)

Interface Design/Content layout

-Develop web site designs and implement software interfaces that provide creative solutions and produce attractive, accurate, innovative, useable web sites and software products.

-Incorporate usable designs relating to consistency, look-and-feel, best practice, compatibility and technical constraints.

-Produce, edit, alter, optimize and deliver images/graphics on time and to provided specification

Design Templates

-Create, develop and deliver well designed interface templates and style guides that are easy for developers to implement

Standards Development and Research

-Participate in the development and maintenance of standards as they relate to interface design (e.g. usability, accessibility, application and Graphical User Interface standards).

-Provide direction and support to business and IT groups on the use of interface technologies.
