Production Graphic Designer (Contract) contract
Contract – 20-30 hours/week
Reports to: Senior production Manager
Location: Head Office Burnaby start at 6:30am /OR/ Home based in Ontario /OR/ based in Glentel Office Toronto)
Effective Date: Immediately
Overview
Provides full layout, graphic design, and production services for various corporate and promotional PRINT and WEB/DIGITAL materials for all Glentel divisions and TCG Groups as required. As member of the marketing team, works to create a full range of time and cost-sensitive communications materials.
Print: Ranging from one colour (newspaper print) advertisements and flyers, through 2 colour newsletter and brochures to the higher end 4 colour brochures, reports and promotional materials.
Web/Digital: a range of digital/web promotional marketing materials, animated gifs, web tiles and banners, etc.
Responsibilities
Layout
- Provides graphic design within predetermined formats and guidelines
- Makes design recommendations during conceptual stage for projects
- Provides various options of design treatments, when required
- Sources images, effective methods of production, paper stock for projects
- Ensures compliance with corporate identity standards and partner co-op guidelines
Graphic design
- Provides graphic design within predetermined formats and guidelines
- Designs print and web marketing communications materials
- Designs customized digital images by manipulating royalty-free stock images
Coordination and production
- Prepares digital files for various output devices
- Selects appropriate software program for project depending on end result required
- Ensures smooth transition between in-house design and outside suppliers
- Assists with various projects: in-store POP, online, magazine ads, etc
- Liaise with production house in preparation of film and printer for on-site press checks
- Maintains and archives digital & hardcopies of each production file
- Assists in administrative marketing matters as it pertains to creative requirements
- Follows the established studio processes
Administration
- Tracks project docket for reference purposes
- Maintains knowledge of current software applications and printing/production techniques
- Assists IT in maintaining a smooth work environment for the designers and coordinators
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience:
- 3+ years of work experience
- Expert knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Strong design sense
- Fast and accurate working ability
- Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to create a variety of projects from concept through production
- Ideal to have experience working in a fast paced environment (ad agency, publishing, production studio, etc)
- Excellent communication skills
- Flexible and fun personality accepting of the projects having numerous changes
Technical Skills:
- A solid technical comprehension and can learn new tools quickly
- Able to work very fast, under tight deadlines
- Advance Adobe CS4-6 Suite software skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, Keynote
- Ability to create a variety of projects from concept through production
Personality:
- Excellent communication and written skills in English, French is a definite asset
- Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines simultaneously
- Flexible and approachable personality accepting of the projects having numerous changes
Working Hours:
- Flexible work hours are required
- Available for 20-30 hours weekly
- Availability for more hours on demand
