Our fast-paced Kamloops office is looking for a production designer to join our team of graphic and communication professionals.

Think in-house design is boring? Think again!

If you believe variety is the spice of life, you will love this opportunity to work with over 400 employees across Western Canada from the comfort of our Kamloops branch. Our visual communications team provides support to our corporate team, engineering and planning professionals, and the clients and communities they serve. As a production designer you will experience a range of projects that will keep you on your toes, both creatively and technically. If you are up for the challenge, we’d like to see your stuff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with our visual communications team to provide production support to project teams across multiple markets and geographies including formatting and editing proposals, reports, documents, presentations, conceptual renderings, and community engagement materials such as event branding, posters, surveys, workbooks and social media graphics.
  • Work independently to execute a design from project brief to completion, based on provided templates, existing brand standards and/or recommendations and art direction from other creative team members.
  • Translate data from reports, surveys and other reference material to create visual representations such as infographics.
  • Effectively utilize a range of desktop publishing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office).
  • Collaborate on problem solving, brainstorming and creative concept generation.
  • Apply knowledge of layout and typography to produce quality brochures, reports, newsletters, presentations, conference material and other items for print or electronic publication in support of both project teams and our corporate communications.
  • Make revisions throughout a project, to make sure work meets expectations for project leaders, clients, and the communities we serve.
  • Proof/edit final files with an eagle eye to ensure quality, consistency and accuracy.
  • Prepare material for print and/or web production (in-house or externally) and coordinate with external vendors for these services.
  • Support the creation and organization of digital assets as part of a company-wide digital asset library (e.g., editing photos, creating templates, tagging and cataloguing project files).

About You

To do this job well you’ll need:

  • Recent completion of post-secondary education with a focus on graphic design and communications
  • Consultative approach to design and demonstrated maturity in relationship development and decision making ability
  • Technically proficient – highly competent and experienced with various media and software including InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Illustrator
  • Creative and innovative thinker who can develop fresh graphic ideas – you can take a mass of information, distill the key messages and represent this visually
  • A self-starter with good business sense who can work independently but in a collaborative environment – you have proven abilities to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast paced environment while taking direction and welcoming feedback throughout the design process
  • Strong understanding of audience and ability to listen to clients and understand their needs before making design decisions or crafting visual designs that represent our client’s concepts, vision, and goals
