Reporting to the Events & Marketing Manager, the Multimedia Producer & Editor is highly involved in the production and quality of multimedia content released by Golden Bears & Pandas Athletics and the operation of varsity events. Multimedia production involves using graphic and video software to create and develop various forms of media and to deliver key messages and stories that can be communicated through online channels. Several websites and social media platforms are used to help advertise and market Golden Bears & Pandas Athletic Events. This position supports the communications team in researching, creating, and editing content for a variety of audience-specific digital platforms
Duties
- Plans and completes pre-production tasks which includes all necessary storyboarding and scripting, budgeting, and resource allocation; scouts and reserves each video shoot location depending on logistics
- Develops production schedules, recruits and assigns additional crew and talent
- Works in collaboration with other clients and production staff to produce a variety of video products for broadcasting, compression output, webcasting, video streaming, and digital distribution
- Plans and directs assigned studio productions provides limited troubleshooting of video, audio and lighting equipment; performs routine equipment maintenance
- Researches trends and makes recommendations to department for software and equipment purchases
- Conducts field-based video production which involves interacting with clients and operating all portable video and audio equipment; transports and sets up lighting and audio equipment as required
- Responsible for reviewing footage, makes editorial decisions, video transcoding, rough cuts, audio adjustment, color correction, and final editing using Final Cut Pro software; utilizes computer graphics and special effects for video post-production in accordance with the overall production concepts
- Compresses video projects for output; makes video products available in a variety of formats including DVDs or streaming media files
- Publishes, organizes, and optimizes media on third party websites such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms
- Creates, posts and updates webcast descriptions, video and audio clips and other material on the website
- Coordinates internal and external duplication services as required; manages video library and evaluates analytics through all published mediums
- Works with the Athletics Events & Marketing Manager to ensure effective and efficient operation in the management of all Athletic Events webcasts, including technical production staff hiring and training; supervises practicum students
Qualifications
- Minimum completion of post-secondary education in a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Minimum of three years of professional experience supporting internal strategies and communications in radio, television, film, sound or new media in a corporate environment
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with digital and social media
- Strong knowledge of video editing programs, Final Cut Pro & Adobe Premiere Pro
- Possesses technical skills in video, audio and post-production
- Ability to create and produce graphic materials using a range of media, methods, techniques, and equipment
- Superior writing, editing, and voicing skills; high attention to detail and precision
- Experience managing multi-phase projects from inception to completion
- Proven project and time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous projects and complete on deadlines
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
