SUMMARY
Reporting to the VP, Marketing & Communications, the Marketing & Events Specialist is responsible for supporting strategic marketing initiatives. Collaborating with IBAO’s Marketing Team, they’ll execute activities and projects including marketing the broker channel, delivering key events and event details, fulfilling recruitment objectives to attract new members, and elevating the member experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS (30%)
- Support the VP, Marketing & Communications in the development, management and implementation of yearly marketing and communication plans to promote association initiatives and events
- Contribute to the evolution of the IBAO brand including marketing collateral and communication components; elevate the quality of IBAO marketing, internally for members and industry, and externally for new brokers
- Coordinate with the Marketing Manager on the creation and design of IBAO branded material
- Lead marketing and communications projects, applying critical thought in project planning and execution
- Contribute written content to IBAO platforms including website copy, email marketing and communications, presentations, scripting, magazine articles, ads
EVENT MANAGEMENT (30%)
- Lead areas of event execution including promotion, resource and budget management, logistics, scheduling, pre and post event communication and stakeholder management for all major IBAO events
- Coordinate scheduling and communicate event details with venues, sponsors, exhibitors, vendors, participants, key stakeholders
- Manage critical path, ensuring deliverables happen on time, on budget
- Support Management in fulfillment of sponsor benefits, speaker selection and content preparation
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver exceptional event experiences
STUDENT ENGAGEMENT (20%)
- Act as key point of contact for all colleges in Ontario offering Insurance Management programs and all college students looking to engage with the broker channel
- Manage the Broker Mentor Program, pairing brokers with college students, creating and distributing guidelines and materials, collecting feedback and identifying new groups of job seekers to broaden the program and help fill the talent gap for IBAO Members
- Coordinate IBAO’s RIBO License Bursary with college students, promoting and coordinating the opportunity with interested students
- Organize job fairs for IBAO Member brokerages and college students
- Work with IBAO’s Marketing Team to create new recruitment collateral
- Lead IBAO’s Annual Next Gen Talent Expo & Job Fair
MEMBER EXPERIENCE (20%)
- Support IBAO Membership initiatives to attract, engage, retain, and grow association membership
- Act as key point of contact for brokerages looking to become IBAO Members
- Develop outreach plans to engage with targeted non-member brokerages
- Work with the Marketing Team to develop new membership collateral
- Create membership engagement reports to track activity levels, growth, trends and opportunities
REQUIREMENTS

- Proven ability to multitask, handle competing priorities, work with various audiences and stakeholders
- Capability to attend industry events as a brand ambassador and extension of the IBAO Team
- Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related discipline
- Technical skills in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere), MailChimp, social media, WordPress, database management
- 3–5 years’ experience in marketing and communications or a comparable or related context
- Nice to have but not required—access to a vehicle
