Position Value:

This position is responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of Rocky Mountaineer’s Marketing in the Canadian & Asia-Pacific regions. This individual will be responsible for partnering with the sales teams in these defined markets to plan, produce and implement programs that help the organization exceed its targets.  This individual will also manage and maintain effective agency relationships and represent the company through industry partnerships/associations.

Key Accountabilities   for Excellence:

  • Establish strategies to promote the brand regionally, nationally, and internationally with a goal of protecting and   enhancing the value of the brand and ensuring a consistent message
  • Work with the marketing team and trade partners to develop marketing campaigns and promotions from inception to distribution,   including creative and production
  • Understand consumer and market insights that will impact strategic and tactical brand management decisions
  • Be the brand champion when working with various stakeholder groups in the organization
  • Manage a regional budget for promotions, advertising, and brand marketing materials
  • Oversee media planning and buying regionally:
    • Buy traditional, print, broadcast, and digital advertising space
    • Evaluate CPM (cost per thousand) rates and negotiate to deliver cost efficient programs
    • Manage multiple media agencies
    • Plan, produce, traffic and reconcile print advertising production
  • Create and manage marketing collateral for domestic and international needs
  • Manage the graphic design resources used to create collateral and manage advertisements
  • Provide direction and mentorship to the Marketing Coordinator(s)
  • Identify partnership programs and execute initiatives to develop awareness of brand and product promotions in the   marketplace
  • Identify market/client opportunities for brand development
  • Execute and develop promotions directly related to the market profile of the brand and associated products
  • Create and facilitate the adoption of brand building frameworks, standards, tools and processes
  • Work with agency partners in the areas of advertising, promotions and public relations, and work with direct reports  and sales managers to develop and maximize the effectiveness of those   relationships worldwide
  • Develop and execute sponsorship, promotional, and cause marketing opportunities on a worldwide basis; regional, national and international marketplaces.

Critical Contributions:

ABOUT YOUR SKILLS:

  • University degree, with post-secondary education in marketing
  • 6+ years in a marketing management role with proven ability to build a strategic marketing plan
  • Experience and an established network in travel/tourism/hospitality with ties to the Australia-Pacific region will be   seen as an asset
  • Proven experience in brand management, market research, print and digital marketing
  • Exceptional negotiation skills with a goal to find a win-win for all parties at the table
  • Ability to make decisions and effectively communicate information
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Service oriented with a strong customer focus
  • Due to time zone differences must be able to work flexible hours
