Your role
As Host of St. John’s Morning Show, CBC Radio One's morning show serving St. John’s and surrounding area, you are committed to staying connected with the news of the day, with your listeners and with your team – even after the microphone is turned off at the end of each show. You are a smart journalist with a competitive spirit. Your interests are wide-ranging and you connect easily with people from all walks of life. You thrive in a team environment. You must have the integrity and self-confidence to bring our programming to life. You care about connecting with your audience, in their homes and cars, on their computers and mobile devices.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
- A university degree or equivalent with five years of comparable and relevant experience that demonstrates knowledge of the broadcasting industry.
- Proven journalism skills, strong news judgment, excellent general knowledge.
- Strong on-air performance and proven interview skills.
- An understanding of the St. John’s and the provincial social and cultural landscape.
- A digital journalism innovator.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work productively in a small team.
- Self-starter.
- Will participate in public and/or community relations activities as appropriate, to promote the program and/or the Corporation.
