Graphic Designer contract

The Corporate Services Department of the City of North Vancouver requires an auxiliary Graphics Designer to work 4 days per week.

You will develop layout and design for a variety of communications materials promoting municipal programs and services in conjunction with departmental staff. Using manual and computer assisted techniques, you will prepare graphics/images for brochures, posters, flyers, reports, advertisements, banners and signage. You will also recommend and develop graphic concepts for specific projects, collaborate on the development of communications messages and strategies, and establish and promote consistent graphic standards. Other duties will include creating, maintaining and updating templates and photo library, coordinating the print production process, obtaining price quotations and recommending suppliers.

You will have completed a diploma program in commercial or graphic arts, plus have several years experience in graphic arts and design, preferably in a municipal or public sector environment. You will have considerable knowledge of and experience with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Publisher, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and a working knowledge of HTML. You will also be familiar with website design, re-branding, and creating, delivering and presenting creative concepts.

Salary:
$29.31 to $34.53 per hour (plus 12% in lieu of benefits)
(Pay Grade 22 - January 2011 rates)

Hours of Work:
Four days per week, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
