The Lassonde School of Engineering at York University was established in 2011, committed to our ground-breaking work in developing The Renaissance EngineerTM. Our mission is to create a culture that hums with curiosity, embraces ambiguity and is always hungry for learning. We are mobilizing a critical mass of risk-takers and change-makers, engaged in engineering and science education focused on reimagining the engineers and scientists of tomorrow. We are a group of doers, who truly love where we work, learn and grow. As a result, our School has been recognized as one of the top 10 emerging leaders, noted as a 'Place to Watch' in Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s report on ‘The global state of the art in engineering education’. Our School is a crucial part of York University, which is ranked 26th globally and 5th in Canada in Times Higher Education‘s 2019 University Impact Rankings that assesses universities against the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Our School values the society it lives and thrives in, and genuinely aims to be reflective of the community we are part of by creating pathways to attract our youth to STEM opportunities.
