A day in the life of the Director of Design and Merchandising Operations
The Operations Excellence Director of Design and Merchandising Ops is a future thinker who works on projects and initiatives focused on building and scaling the go to market process for the cross functional product team. A key attribute of this individual is the ability to conduct and lead complex analytics to drive fact-based discussions about our business. Reporting to the SVP of Operations Excellence and partnering with colleagues across the creative value chain, the Direct or Design and Merch Ops is deployed on key projects and initiatives to ensure they are wildly successful. They are an expert in collaborative and sustainable implementation for both lululemon and ivivva globally.
core accountabilities
- Engage with business leaders to define the ongoing evolution of the go to market process
- Ensure alignment of future vision of the go to market process with business growth goals and strategic priorities
- Understand production and supply chain operations to focus on pre-production and production performance
- Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders in production and operations to assess capabilities, constraints, and gaps as they pertain to, and enable, the go to market process
- Drive integration and alignment of company projects with appropriate cross-functional partners in Ops Excellence, Merch, Design, Ops, IT, etc.
- Work closely with Director of Go to Market Operations to identify improvement opportunities, develop initiatives, and implement solutions across the organization
The Finer Print
- Bachelor’s degree or MBA in Business or related fields
- 5+ years experience in global retail supply chain processes and operations from concept through to in store delivery
- Solid understanding of IT applications inclusive of design, product development, merchandising, PO management, and supply chain strategy
- Able to work cross-functionally with different departments and at different levels within an organization
- Able to maintain confidentiality and communicate concisely and clearly
- Has a passion for mentoring and coaching, our product, and seeing an idea come to fruition
- PMP preferred
- Self motivated, passionate, detail oriented, multi-tasker extraordinaire that thrives in a fast paced environment
- Proven track record of implementing successful projects and related best practices
- Strong analytical, problem solving and root cause identification skills
- Excellent communication skills - interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation
- Excellent listening and facilitation skills; the ability to sense organizational vibrations
- Coaching and mentoring skills, especially influencing others to move toward a common goal or vision
