This position is responsible all aspects of fundraising and stewardship related direct mail appeals, email and web fundraising, marketing segmentation and reporting for fundraising operations in Canada. The goal of this position is to optimize growth and Return on Investment. These marketing efforts ensure strong retention, reactivation and acquisition. This position will also be responsible for planning, budgeting, and management of the annual Golf Tournament fundraiser in Canada. The incumbent serves as the key liaison to managing contracts, expense and project work flow.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities; however, is responsible for managing external vendors related to direct marketing efforts (printer, mail house, response tracking, etc.). This person will be the direct Canadian liaison to print and direct marketing vendors, PetSmart Canada teams involved in fundraising events, and the PetSmart CRM team (related to PetSmart customer targeting).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
• Direct Marketing:
o Develops and implements comprehensive, integrated direct marketing solicitation strategies to secure individual gift income through mail and e-mail communication.
o Builds systems to ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal fundraising laws and standards.
o Ensures quality data management with a focus on best in class donor stewardship.
o Sources direct mail and e-mail appeal vendors and materials.
o Manages copywriting and design process for online and direct mail marketing.
o Manages weekly, monthly and quarterly report analysis for fundraising channels.
o Develops direct mail and email fundraising revenue, expense budgets and campaign plans for fiscal year; track and report budgeted income and expense vs. goals.
o Manages the growth and retention of direct mail donors.
o Manages acquisition and reactivation to grow active donor pool.
o Understands overall business strategies and campaign specific marketing objectives, incorporating mail and email when opportunities arise.
o Audits and updates segmentation tool values/description ensuring these are up-to-date for documentation purposes.
o Works with PetSmart, Inc., team on emails and direct mail to PetSmart customers to encourage gifts to PetSmart Charities of Canada.
o Manages and communicates with vendors to assure campaigns are executed on time and within budget.
o Partners with Programs team to determine optimal messaging for fundraising in Canada.
• Event Management:
o Manages relationship between PetSmart Charities of Canada and the event venue by providing direction and implementation of annual golf event.
o Creates and manage project plans, budgets, and outside vendors for the golf event, developing relationships with vendors and negotiating contracts for event.
o Works cross-functionally with U.S. events counterpart to maximize resources.
o Tracks all revenue and relationships in development database.
Experience/Education Required
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Philanthropy or related field. Requires proficiency typically obtained with 5+ years of direct marketing management (segmentation, database management, testing database intgegrity, etc.)
Requires leadership experience managing vendors and volunteers while working in a hands-on capacity within an organization that focuses on cross-collaboration and team. Requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills are a must. Requires strong human relations skills to build and maintain productive professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders; effective team player. Encourages diversity of thought and actions as well as holding themselves and others accountable. Must be able to work in fast paced environment and manage several projects and issues simultaneously. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently. Candidate must exhibit enthusiasm for authentic storytelling and supporting our vision of finding a lifelong, loving home for every pet.
Preferred: Experience in a non-profit environment and with event planning preferred, but not required.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
