Designer freelance

Bayard Canada Inc., home of the Owlkids and Novalis brand of products (bayardcanada.ca), is seeking freelance designers for its various publishing activities. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work in one or more disciplines, including children’s book design, adult religious trade and educational book design, and various print and web-based marketing campaigns promoting our products.

Qualifications:

Must have at least 3 years experience in one or more of: children’s book design, adult trade book design, or marketing design, including direct mail packages, print and web advertising, forms, signage/posters, catalogues and magalogs.

Expertise in various design and communications software including Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat; Microsoft Office - Powerpoint.

Sound understanding of file preparation and design as applicable to printing process.

Knowledge of digital publications, including file preparation for and output to ePDF and ePub is an asset.

Excellent written communication skills. Able to follow instructions and provide clear and concise feedback.

Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and SEO optimization as it applies to design.

Knowledge of WordPress and email client software (Campaign Monitor, MailChimp etc.) is an asset.

College diploma or university degree in graphic design or comparable industry experience.

Experience in social media as it relates to design for Facebook, Blogs, Twitter, video, infographics/information design, content development, etc.

For Novalis projects, experience or familiarity with Christian/Catholic content is a strong asset.
