Reporting to the Director of Operations Excellence and partnering with colleagues in Supply Chain, FP&A, and Technology, the Operations Excellence data scientist is responsible for analytics in support of decisions that cross Sourcing, Logistics, and Merchandising. The Data Scientist’s reason de’etre is to elegantly answer questions where data is not available in an elegant manner. As we put some of our operations and supply chain strategies into play, the Data Scientist will be the key person who supports our what-if analysis to advise us on how to execute the operations and supply chain strategies we’re designing. When we want to know the downstream impact of an upstream decision, the Data Scientist is who we’ll go to.
Core Responsibilities
- Close collaboration with the SVP of Ops Excellence and Director of Ops Excellence to operationalize operations and supply chain strategies
- Support the SVP of Ops Excellence in evaluating both strategic and crisis opportunities for improving the core business and work closely with FP&A and strategy to develop and track business case opportunities
- Architect analytics to support the Operations Excellence and Supply Chain program portfolio
- Develop best practices for Supply Chain and Operations analytics and train others in the organization
- Work with the Director of Operations Excellence to design performance dashboards and lead risk management and escalation for the Operations Excellence and Supply Chain portfolio
- Create forecasting/simulation models to predict future process/system performance based on changes implemented
- Establish effective knowledge transfer capabilities to enable the long term sustainability & embedding of analytics and re-engineering as a way of doing business
The finer print
- Bachelor's degree required, Mathematics or Engineering
- Experience with designing algorithms for complex correlation and predictive analysis for forecasting and demand for a global apparel retailer
- Expert knowledge in merchandise planning and supply chain on a billion dollar business scale
- Experience with statistical and analytical and visualization software and moderate programming experience (Tableau, Excel, R, SPSS, VBA, etc.)
- Strong analytical and financial skills to support opportunity identification and the ability to build a compelling business case for change
- Comfortable working with diverse, large scale teams and driving objective-focused facilitation
- Strategic and creative thinker with ability to both drive to results and build relationships
