Communications Consultant - Creative Writer contract
The Communications Consultant - Creative Writer works closely with the Marketing Communications Consultants as they work with the College's Schools, Programs and Service Departments to create persuasive content targeted toward current and prospective students, best suited for multi-channel distribution (traditional and online media). By utilizing RDC's consistent brand voice and developing key messages, the Communications Consultant - Creative Writer strengthens the College's brand to encourage engagement and increased enrolment of learners. The Communications Consultant - Creative Writer is primarily responsible for the daily management of RDC's social media accounts and to promote the College internally and externally through social media. The incumbent will utilize best practice to integrate existing social media platforms and channels, to increase the platforms used, and to develop content strategy and editorial calendars.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two (2) years of post-secondary training in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations
- Two (2) to three (3) years of related experience
- Gift for conceptual thinking and being able to translate concepts into creative and effective messaging
- Able to work independently, and in a collaborative setting with other creative team members to develop ideas, brand and copy directions (e.g. marketing and advertising creative); contribute to brainstorming and creative brief development
- Copywriting experience in an advertising agency or in-house marketing department and communications experience
- Experience in creating and managing corporate social media accounts as well as proficiency in use of Social Media platforms, especially Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and history of professionalism on social media sites (personal and/or professional)
- Experience managing a brand's social media platforms, including the integration of tools and third-party applications
- Demonstrated ability to write strong, concise marketing copy; exceptional oral and written communication, editing, organizational and interpersonal skills; comprehension of data-driven strategies and capability to translate those into customer-friendly copy; eye for consistency and strong attention to detail
- Understand the importance of maintaining consistency in brand voice and tone across all related marketing communications
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize workload, meet aggressive deadlines and attend meetings
- An understanding of how social media and interactive communication platforms fit into the marketing plan and can drive student enrollment and retention
- A positive attitude at all times particularly when representing the College online and a high regard for reputation management
Preferred Qualifications
- Four (4) year undergraduate degree, or three (3) year undergraduate degree plus one full additional year of University in a related program in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations
- Accreditation in Public Relations (APR), and/or International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) is desired
- Social Media Accreditation is highly desired
- Experience working with photography and working knowledge of videography an asset
