Art Director full-time
Oilers Entertainment Group (OEG) delivers leading sports, entertainment and other special event programming to fans and patrons in Canada and the United States. OEG owns the 5-time Stanley Cup Champion Edmonton Oilers, the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings, the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors, and will operate Rogers Place, the new home of the Oilers and Oil Kings in downtown Edmonton. OEG also owns and operates one of Canada’s most accomplished television, event, and brand-promotion companies and has recently added Silver Pictures Entertainment to its growing sports & entertainment business.

Role Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Marketing, the Art Director will be responsible for the development and execution of creative concepts for OEG content including, but not limited to, video, print, OOH, radio, and digital production, inclusive of static and motion GFX. These efforts will support all OEG brands and products, including the Oilers Entertainment Group, Rogers Place, Ice District, Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club, Edmonton Oil Kings Hockey Club, and various other Sports & Entertainment entities, facilities, and/or events.
Core Responsibilities and Duties:
Creative Vision & Production
- Develop, articulate, evangelize and ultimately deliver a visual direction for all OEG brands
- Lead by example to inspire a team of designers that produce their best work, on-time and on-budget
- Champion the role of design and brand integrity across all areas of the organization through collaboration and influence with OEG marketers, sales activation specialists, digital leads, game presentation developers and project managers
- Design, implement and optimize an OEG creative production process / methodology that maximizes both quality and resource efficiency
- Collaborate with Director, Brand Equity in all areas of creative development, ensuring the connection between business objectives and innovative design solutions
- Keep up to date and informed on industry best practices, implementing where appropriate
Management & Training
- Lead, mentor and coach the OEG Design team (static & motion GFX)
- Exemplify a consistent, fair and situational management style that inspires direct and indirect reports
Education, Experience and Skills:
- College Diploma / University degree in Graphic Design required
- 7+ years of progressively complex experience leading a team of designers, production specialists and writers to creative excellence
- A self-starter able to manage multiple projects through various stages of development (strategic brainstorming, creative brief development / refinement, creative execution, campaign development)
- Extensive theoretical and practical GFX / Design knowledge and experience
- Proficient with latest versions of Mac OS, Photoshop, Illustrator, and a solid understanding of the strengths and limitations of Flash, After Effects, QuickTime, Director, Imageready and Final Cut Pro
- Working knowledge of shooting, editing and post production process
- Adaptable and able to thrive in a multi-task, faced paced environment with competing demands
- Energetic, creative, adaptive, outgoing personality that can interface and influence at all levels, including executives and across various departments / business units
